Lake Monroe
Lake Monroe is just a few minutes away from Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ campground. With 10,750 acres, Lake Monroe is Indiana’s largest lake. Access is easy with a total of 9 boat ramps. Our campground is closest to Fairfax SRA and Salt Creek SRA, both at the southwest corner of Lake Monroe.
The area east of the SR 446 causeway is set aside as an idle zone, so it is perfect for canoeing, kayaking and fishing. The largest area of the lake, west of the SR 446 causeway, is ideal for power boaters.
Fourwinds Marina
Located on the shores of picturesque Lake Monroe, Fourwinds Marina has a complete fleet of watercraft rentals from jet skis to party boats. If you’re hungry, check out The Windjammer Grill and Tradewinds Restaurant. Spend time strolling along stretches of scenic brick paths bordering the lake.
Brown County/Nashville
About 30 minutes from Jellystone Park, you’ll find picturesque Brown County and Nashville, Indiana. Brown County boasts beautiful rolling hills, scenic views, covered bridges and lots of outdoor adventure like hiking, canoeing, biking and zip lining. In the heart of Brown County is Nashville, a small town and artists’ colony with tons of character. You’ll feel like you stepped back in time as you meander through the streets lined with galleries, boutiques and eateries.
Eagle Pointe Golf Course
If you’re a golf enthusiast, check out Eagle Pointe Golf Course located 2 miles from our campground. This 6,700 yard, par 71 championship golf course features rolling hills, waterfalls and over 100 sand bunkers. They also have a driving range and putting greens. They have a PGA professional on staff.
Oliver Winery
Sample over 40 varieties in Oliver Winery’s state-of-the-art tasting room, then enjoy a glass on the veranda. “Bright flavors and balance are the hallmarks of Oliver wine.” You can learn about the art of winemaking during a free weekend tour.
Indiana University
Bloomington is home to Indiana University which has one of the most beautiful college campuses in the country. You can take a tour of the campus, or attend one of a host of music and arts performances including theater, ballet and opera.
Downtown Bloomington
In downtown Bloomington you’ll find unique shopping, live music, and restaurants. In fact, Orbitz Travel Research named Bloomington, “The 7th fastest growing destination in the nation for wine and culinary enthusiasts.” There are several art galleries in Bloomington, and numerous restaurants offering a variety of cuisine from Thai to Greek to American, to name a few.
Indianapolis
Jellystone Park at Lake Monroe is one hour south of Indianapolis. If you would like to make a day trip to Indy, you will find something there for everyone in your family including the Children’s Museum, the Planetarium, art galleries, great shopping and restaurants, and the Zoo. The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the world famous Indy 500 is here. And don’t forget a tour of Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Colts.
Bloomington Speedway
Bloomington Speedway is a short course race track for Sprint Cars, Modified, and Super Stocks. It is a 1/4 mile, semi-high banked clay oval track. Their schedule runs from April through November.
